Prema Kondragunta

What are you most looking forward to this service term?
I'm most looking forward to living in such a vibrant, diverse city, while gaining field experience in the arena of urban public health, and making valuable connections with extraordinary people.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

I want to become a physician that focuses on serving traditionally underserved populations in an urban setting. I would also like to use my career as a mechanism to advocate for equal access to healthcare, and preventative primary care, in the community that I serve in.

I'm interested in learning about...
I want to learn about barriers of access to healthcare for immigrant populations in Chicago and how to lessen those barriers. I would also be interested to learn about the stigma of HIV in the general population. I'm also interested in mental health issues of immigrants and the LGBTQ+ populations. It'd also be interesting to learn about how the anti-vaccination movement is affecting cities' levels of infectious disease.
