Reynaldo De Leon Jr.

What are you most looking forward to this service term?
I am excited to learn new things about public health and the healthcare industry, as well as meeting new people and providing health education to the youth!

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
My personal career goals are closely connected to health administration and health education. I see myself working in a health care facility as a departmental manager/supervisor that will give guidance to my team in terms of quality health care provision in the community. In addition, I envision myself serving as a bridge between health professionals and the public through health education. I hope to eliminate the gap between these groups and make sure that information is given with ease by using low literacy language. This way, we can better convey important health information and avoid further negative health outcomes.

I'm interested in learning about...
health behaviors and health over the life course, especially with topics regarding acute and chronic non-communicable diseases (e.g. heart disease, obesity, diabetes, etc.). I hope to understand how actions impact the health of different populations and get a sense of how to tackle these important issues.
