Growing up in Chicago gave me countless opportunities and ways to discover what I truly love to do, and like other AmeriCorps members I found that it is my passion to help others. When I see someone in need, I not only see it as an opportunity to help, but also as my responsibility to do so. To be more specific, the way I want to help others is through health.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and to honor this cause and the many victims of domestic violence in the Jacksonville area, several North Florida Health Corps members spent a recent Saturday morning serving at Hubbard House. Please welcome the eighteen members who took the pledge on Friday September 13, 2013 to serve America and "Get Things Done for America" through AmeriCorps! These eighteen individuals will participate in 10.5 month course of learning, growing, and sharing experiences that cannot be experienced anywhere else. They all begin as strangers and end as friends with a lifelong commitment to service.
