What is your title and role at your host site?

Depression Care Coordinator at UPMC Shadyside. My role is to help build and maintain a registry of patients at the clinic with Depression and follow-up with them to make sure they receive the care they need.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?

I was looking for a meaningful opportunity to give back to the community and work toward health equity. I am very interested in Public Health and was looking for a way to get hands-on experience.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?

I am hoping to gain insight as to whether I am interested in continuing in the field of clinical psychology and whether I enjoy working with patients with mental illness. I hope to learn more about the field of public health and create meaningful relationships with patients, mentors, and AmeriCorps peers.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

I am hoping to continue my education and get my Masters in Public Health. I would love to live and work abroad.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years, I hope to be working in the field of Public Health and continuing to help ensure that everybody has the healthcare they need.
